Exquisite architecture surrounded me. It dominated my mind all during the journey. Behind every corner, hidden in every forest, next to every river, were shrines and temples of beautiful form. The effect upon my heart was magical and profound. The Japanese belief in nature as an expression of the divine resonated in harmony with my own.
